On our way to Mirissa after stopping off at the Turtle sanctuary we visited the Martin Wickramsinghe Folk Museum. Martin Wickramasinghe was a famous Sri Lankan writer. He was born in 1890 during the time of British rule of Sri Lanaka. Called Ceylon at that time. It is split into two parts the first which commemorates the life of Martin Wickramasinghe and the other celebrates Sri Lankan folklore and village life. It also has spacious and well maintained gardens. The folk museum was the most interesting. Our guide Ajeet had never been there. He found it interesting too.
